Privacy Policy

Count the Dots — website, iOS app and Android app · Last updated 20 September 2026

Count the Dots collects nothing about you. There is no account, no server, no database and no analytics. Every click you record is written to storage on your own device and stays there.

That is the whole policy. The rest of this page only says it precisely, because the app stores require it to be said precisely.

What the app stores, and where

When you tap one of the three dots, the app appends a record — the time of the tap and which dot it was — to a list held in your device's local web storage, under the key click-timeline/v1. Your theme choice and your answers to the tip prompt are kept the same way.

This storage belongs to your device. The app has no network code that reads it or sends it anywhere, and no one else — including us — can see it.

What we collect

Nothing. No personal data, no usage data, no identifiers, no diagnostics, no crash reports, no advertising. The App Store and Google Play privacy declarations for these apps are both Data Not Collected.

The apps contain no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDK of any kind.

The website

The web version at app.countthedots.click is a set of static files served by AWS Amplify Hosting. Loading a web page necessarily reveals your IP address and browser user-agent to the server delivering it, and our hosting provider records those in standard request logs for delivery and abuse prevention. We do not read those logs to identify anyone, we add no cookies, and we run no analytics. Your recorded clicks are never part of any request: they never leave your browser.

The installed iOS and Android apps do not make this request at all. They ship every file inside the app itself and work with no network connection.

Tips and in-app purchases

From time to time the app may offer you the chance to leave a tip. If you choose to, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play in their own payment sheet.

Apple and Google handle that transaction under their own privacy policies, not this one.

Exporting and sharing your data

Export writes your log to a JSON file. On the phone apps this is handed to the system share sheet, so you choose what happens to it — save it to Files, send it to yourself, or cancel. The file goes wherever you send it and nowhere else. We never receive a copy.

Deleting your data

You are always in control of the whole log:

Because the data only exists on your device, there is nothing for us to delete and no deletion request to make. Export first if you want to keep a backup — none of these actions can be undone.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, children included. It has no accounts, no messaging, no user-generated content and no advertising.

Changes to this policy

If this ever changes — and it would only change if the app itself did — the new version will appear on this page with a new date above. An app update that began collecting anything would be described here first.
